Dermaplaning Contraindications and Post Treatment Care

Clients will not be permitted to use our Infrared Sauna before OR after their Dermaplaning Treatment

Dermaplaning is a safe and effective technique for manual exfoliation of the skin. This skin care treatment uses a surgical steel blade to safely remove the outermost layers of the dead skin cells and vellus hairs (peach fuzz) leaving the skin smooth, supple, and glowing.

Dermaplaning Treatment Contraindications:

• Sunburned, compromised red or irritated skin

• Facial waxing within 5 days

• Using Retin-A or Differin or other retinol products (must discontinue use 5 days before treatment)

• Taking Accutane (must be off Accutane for 12 months)

• Has an infectious or acne condition

• Has bacterial and/or viral infection (i.e. cold sores) (Herpes Simplex, Verruca)

• Taking antibiotics

• Taking blood thinners

• Has an active fungal infection

• Precautionary: clients taking aspirin therapy

Dermaplaning Post-Treatment Care

Immediate Post Care Instructions:

• Skin may feel wind-burned or tight for a day or two after treatment

• You may experience dryness and peeling for a day or two after treatment

• Use a gentle moisturizer as frequently as needed

• Use a minimum SPF 30 for the next 10-14 days

Things to avoid:

• Avoid hot tubs, saunas, or anything that can cause excessive sweating for 48 hours after treatment

1 - 5 Days Post Treatment:

• Waxing or use of depilatories in the area treated

• Any facial exfoliants or peels

• Submerging treated areas in chlorinated pool water

• Hot water on the treated area, only use warm water

• Injectables such as Botox or fillers

10-14 Days Post Treatment:

• Avoid direct sunlight and/or tanning beds, use a minimum of SPF 30 when outdoors

• Laser Hair Reduction Treatments
